In class we started to make fidget spinners on the app OnShape. The teacher gave us directions step by step to build a circular fidget spinner and after we finished the first fidget spinner, we built a fidget spinner of our own that we would like.
Why do people fidget?
People fidget because it helps relieve stress and some people just use it for fun and they fidget to help them get distracted when it comes to being nervous, frustrated, ADHD and etc.
What are alternatives to fidget spinners?
There is a lot of alternatives of fidget spinners. Some of them that I found was the Thinking Putty and the Cuber Speed Rainbow Ball Fidget Toy.
What are some examples of Fidget toys?
Spinner Ring
Grip Strength Trainer
3 in 1 Rattle Pen Spinner
What was the problem definition?
The problem was that we tried 3D printing in different sizes of the fidget spinner to figure out what size would be the inside of the circle of the fidget spinner to fit the bearing. I tried to change the size a couple times until the fidget spinner fit the bearing.
Engineering Design Process
At first we started to practice making fidget spinners before we started our final fidget. We did the fidget spinners on the app OnShape. When I was first creating it, I had to retry a lot because you know practice makes perfect. I made to keep on making fidget spinners until it would fit the bearing.
Tests
The failure that happened through the process was in the first fidget spinner came out way too thin and small. The second time the circle of the fidget spinner wouldn't fit the barring until I got the right measurements for everything. Lastly, the fidget spinner came out good. It was the size of the barring and a good size in general because of the measurements that were given to me.
